When playing against other local teams it is often remarked that they have 'cool nicknames' for their clubs like Mary Bassett "Hounds", Linslade "Leos", Pulford "Pirates" etc, but Dovery Down does not. Well looking back at the club archives reveals that once upon a time, Dovery Down Football Club went by the nickname of Dovery Down "Dynamos' or Triple D in cool speak!

There are no records detailing why the name was dropped or why it fell out of use, however, the name is certainly fitting for our players given the seemingly endless abundance of energy that they all display during training and matches! Dyanmos is name associated with many great professional football teams from around the world most notably, Dynamo Kiev, Dynamo Dresden, and even Houston Dynamos in America - the winners of two MLS Cups.

In honour of the historical use of term in the long and strong legacy of the Dovery Down Football Club we will be re-introducing the nickname Dynamos to the club from the 2015 / 2016 season onwards and look forward to continued success with out teams. Just like other teams we will make use of Dynamos as a rallying cry for supporter during training and match events and will begin to use the nickname in our future communications.

Go Dynamos!!!
