CELEBRATING OUR PLAYERS AND TEAMS; End of season awards ceremony and fun parents, coaches and player

The 2015 season was another wonderful year of successes and fun for all involved in the club. Our usual end of season awards ceremony was held on the 11th of July 2015 and despite the rapidly encroaching holidays we had an almost complete turn out for the event.

As with previous years, each coaching team was asked to nominate players for a number of awards to be given out to recognise both individual and team contributions throughout the season. The awards represent success, achievement, hard work and consistency. They are awarded to players who demonstrate the associated qualities, character and behaviours.

Summary of Player Awards:

  • Managers Player: this award is given to the player who stands out as having performed the most consistently well thoughout the season and who has continuously applied themselves to learn, train and practice, putting their heart into each event and activity.

  • Most Improved: this award is given the player that has improved the most throughout the season and has demonstrated improvements in skill, coordination and overall ability - someone that has actively applied what they have learned in all activities.

  • Clubman Award: this award is given to the player that demonstrates a desire to learn and play football to the best of his or her abilities no matter what the weather, event or activity - they demonstrate a willingness to do the best for their team-mates.

Additionally, as is traditional for the club, every single player of every squad also received a individual award to signify the our appreciation of all the effort they have put in during the season and represents a means for us - as coaches - to say thank you to the players.

Finally, every year we lose the Year 4 squad as they leave to start junior shool. Many of the players of the squad have been with the club since they were in Reception Year and they have progressed through the years improving to become skillful players.

To mark this special occasion the club gave each player in Year 4 with a Special Service Award in recognition of all the years that they have played for Dovery Down and represented us at events, matches and tournaments racking up many victories along the way.
